Rocks, Mud, and Ruts

Hi, this is Marsha, the receptionist at Wareing Sturgis Ford.

Summer is here. The Black Hills trails are calling. It’s time to take your Ford Bronco out and rub a little dirt on it.

The full-size Ford Bronco was built for adventure, and here in western South Dakota you’ll find more than 3,800 miles of motorized roads and trails to explore.

Map of Black Hills Bronco trails

Favorite Black Hills Trails

Black Fox to Cement Ridge Fire Lookout (Trail #3C)
Near Spearfish, this scenic route includes a steep rocky climb and rewards drivers with views stretching across four states.

Dugan’s Prospect
Located near Three Forks, Hill City, and Sheridan Lake, this popular trail features a significant rocky climb that puts ground clearance and articulation to the test.

Sheep Mountain Table Road
South of Scenic, this route combines gravel roads and uneven terrain with incredible views of the Badlands.

Boulder Hill Road
A relatively easy dirt route with some rocky sections near the summit and beautiful views along the way.

Iron Mountain Road (US 16A)
Technically paved, but still a must-drive. Its famous pigtail bridges and one-lane tunnels provide a unique driving experience and memorable photo opportunities.

The sixth-generation Ford Bronco comes equipped with an impressive collection of off-road technology and trail-ready features.

With trim levels including Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, Heritage Edition, Sasquatch-equipped models, and the Bronco Raptor, owners can choose a Bronco that fits both their lifestyle and their favorite terrain.

Broncos are known for features like removable tops, removable doors, pillar-mounted mirrors, and trail sights built into the front fenders to help navigate obstacles.

Many models also include heavy-duty bumpers, skid plates, recovery hooks, beadlock-capable wheels, and high-clearance fender flares designed to tackle rough terrain.

And if your adventures involve a little water, every full-size Bronco is capable of water fording. Depending on trim level, that capability ranges up to an impressive 37 inches on the Bronco Raptor.

Pretty tough stuff for rocks, mud, ruts, and tight squeezes.

But the receptionist in me has to mention a few comfort features too, because eventually every trail beast comes back to town.

  • Available rubberized flooring with drain plugs makes cleanup easy after muddy adventures.
  • A built-in cargo area cooler with a drain plug is perfect for picnics, tailgating, and trail lunches.
  • Available body-color hard tops and fender flares add a more refined appearance for everyday driving.
  • The Bronco tool kit includes a door locator pin to help reinstall removable doors without scratching paint.
  • Accessory-ready mounting points make it easy to add GPS units, cameras, tablets, lights, and other trail gear.

And that’s only scratching the surface.

There are several Broncos here at Wareing Sturgis Ford, and we’d love to show you the features, trim levels, and accessories available.

If you’re already a Bronco owner, we hope you have plans to get out and enjoy the trails this summer.

And when you do, stop by and show us some mud.

Thanks for reading.
